This is what our basement started off looking like.

In the meantime, I set up my office in our 2nd Bedroom. It was cramped.
We broke up the concrete ourselves, saving us TONS of money.
It was an obstancle course!
Since the floor was up, we had the old clay pipes replaced with new. We also had the correct plumping for a new 3 pc. bathroom installed, and we moved around the plumbing for where the Washing Machine used to be, to be in a new location at the front of the house. (Vs. at the back)
A new concrete floor was professionally poured.
Aubrey + his brother built a new set of stairs for between the main floor + basement. We looked into getting pre made stairs, but it was SUPER expensive. This process wasn't easy, calculating risers & runners, but Perry, Aubrey's brother who had experience with stair building for theater sets, was VERY helpful with calculating.
Aubrey built new walls, and added a vapour barrier.
Dad came over and helped install the insulation!
Drywall was professionall installed + taped - we're so glad we hired out for this.
Laminate flooring was our choice for the basement flooring. The flooring we picked was Traffic Master flooring from Home Depot, and the colour is a Walnut. Aubrey installed it himself.

Our washer + dryer have been moved to the front of the house by where the Gas meter was. We couldn't afford to have the gas meter moved outside, so we came up with this plan to hide the meter...

The project took us a little under 6 months, with Aubrey doing it on his days off, and getting trades in. The basement is still being decorated and finalized, so there isn't a true "after shot" just yet, but the above gives you some idea into how it's coming along!
The bathroom still needs completing, we're awaiting our pocket door still for that room, and we may start tiling sooner vs. later.
